Maui Summer Classic, JV Division semifinals
Fatigue caught up to us as our 8th graders ran out of gas. They still made a stirring run in the second half, cutting the lead to 44-35. Mosi and the guys had the crowd cheering for the underdogs.
Our press was tough on their guards and we had them on the ropes a bit.
In the end, though, our lack of depth was a factor. The boys played their hearts out. Hopefully, they learned from playing kids two years older and bigger. We had a horrible start, completely intimated for no good reason until the late first quarter or early second quarter.
Micah played limited minutes in the first half due to headache caused by dehydration. He did OK and played hard.
I'll remember this tourney as a big stepping stone for our 8th graders. They beat four teams and lost only to UE. VERY VERY PROUD OF OUR THUNDER BOYS!!!
