Road trip: What to bring

Parents and players, I'm going to compile a list of things the kids on the 13U Road Trip will need to bring. Please note that only two carry-on bags will be permitted. If any player or parent traveling brings luggage that needs to be checked in, that's $25 fee for the first suitcase, $50 for the second suitcase. That's what they charge at the airports. (Boxes are NOT recommended, in case you were thinking of using one.)

So please travel lightly.

ALSO, please note that each player is expected to travel with $25/day food money. If they can't bring that kind of money, please let me know and we'll work it out.

Here's a rough sketch of what should be brought in players' bags (duffel bags, backpacks, etc.) with a minimum number:

Photo ID - Preferably a state ID. Bring your school ID, copy of birth certificate
T-shirts (5 should suffice, most hotels have laundry options)
Shorts (5) (including swim trunks in case Sam's Town has a rule)
Underwear (5)
Socks (5 pairs)
Walking shoes
Basketball shoes
Blue Thunder uniform
Orange Thunder uniform
Gray Thunder uniform
Slippers (optional)
Deodorant/anti-perspirant
Comb/brush
Toothbrush, dental floss donated by Carl Montiho

Optional: book, playing cards. I don't recommend traveling with a video-game console, but if anybody brings one, be aware that it's a bulky item that will take up space in their bags, plus the hassle at the airport security entrance.

What else will be needed? Please chime in and I'll expand the list.

Final notes: Room assignments will be finalized soon. Also, all electronics will be collected at lights out (10:00 pm) each night. For the LA/Anaheim leg of the trip, please refrain from wearing red and blue clothing. Just to be as safe as possible.

Mahalo,
Coach Paul
