13U: Sharks2 40, Thunder 33

Close game until the end. Sharks keep getting better, adding talented players and playing good defense. They have Chris, formerly of Makakilo, and he played great against us tonight inside. Really threw off our scorers. On our side, we played hard, great heart and hustle. But this is a good lesson for us as a team (players AND coaches). Going up against a tough center tonight could make us a better team as we go forward and travel to the mainland.

There's no question we were a little rusty with Kalai Kuia and Kali'a Mielke playing after missing a week of practice. We've got games tomorrow and some time Monday and Tuesday. I actually wish we could play the Sharks2 again tomorrow. Making a few adjustments against a tall team can be quick or it can take time. But that's part of what will make us better. Facing tall, quick teams is a blessing. We won't really get better playing teams that are smaller and slower than us.

Good basketball teams take the hit, feel the pain, learn from the mistakes and bounce back quickly. Let's do that tomorrow!
