PC All-Stars 46, H1 Thunder 20 (13U)

CAL League, 13U Gold Division, Kilauea gym
Met a very good PC team tonight that was supplemented by two talented "free agents" in Bailey and Kalei (the really good guard from the Islanderz). Their big man dominated us in the paint and their two-guard halfcourt pressure gave us a lot of opportunities that we didn't capitalize on.

As with the older guys, the lack of practice time together for this specific group of Thunder Pups is a big factor. Several of our Pups have missed a ton of practice in the past two, three, four weeks, and even longer. We're very young on the bench, and overall quite inexperienced, so the growing pains will be unavoidable. We have, in my opinion, the two best players in the league. But there is no chemistry. Yet. Hopefully we can get that through practice, not just with the two players, but our entire team.

Repetition builds confidence, which leads to more repetition and more confidence, which lead to excellence and success.

We've got quickly improving young players who will have ups and downs. We've got some fairly experienced players who aren't running plays right. But overall, we've got a whole lot of work to do fundamentally with everything. Learning is a process, but repeating mistakes is not something I will tolerate for long. COME TO PRACTICE, develop great habits and eliminate mental errors. Build passing chemistry and trust, and begin to excel.

Almost everybody consistently works very hard and is very coachable (focused) when they are at practice. Just getting everyone to practice consistently has been a barrier that probably won't change, not with so many other priorities for our players.

Lineup: Chaz, Walter, Jayla, Trinity, Skyler, Matthew, Ryan, Jonah, Jayden,Jhevin, Jance.
Missing: Jason (basketball camp).

Next: Saturday, 10:00 am - Practice at Makiki Park.
WE LOVE THIS GAME!!
