Huli Huli Chicken Fundraiser

Coach Bo, Spanky and I had a great meeting with Jimmy of Rainbow Drive Inn this morning. Jimmy has been a big supporter of youth sports for a long time, including Spanky's baseball teams. After Spanky talked with him, he explained the process to us and welcomed us to fundraise. Big Mahalo to Jimmy, Spanky and Coach Bo!

> Their Hoku's BBQ (next door to Rainbows) will print 300 tickets with pickup on Sunday, July 7. We'll man the table in the parking lot next to the huli. Our job that day is simply to bag the chickens as they are picked up.

> Each player will sell at least 10 tickets. The more, the better, and I will keep a list of everybody's count. If you want to sell more, let me know and they can print more tickets. If you don't sell and can't pay for the trip, not good. Try your best and don't give up, Thunder. In case you didn't know, their huli chicken is AWESOME.

> Jimmy helped out Kalani's water polo team recently. They sold 400 tickets.

Jimmy and Rainbows don't make anything on the fundraiser. He does it because he supports our keiki. This is a win-win partnership for us, a true blessing. Now we just gotta put in the effort and hustle to sell as many tickets to as many family, friends, co-workers, friends of friends, even strangers, as we can.

If it goes well, it helps our possible trip to Maui in July much more realistic.
And then we could do the Huli Huli Chicken Fundraiser several times a year. Lord knows it costs a ton of money to play in leagues and travel near or far. I'm hoping we sell well over 300 tickets, then get started on selling again in a couple of months for Fall Leagues AND for next summer's travel.

Taking a team (or two) to LA and Las Vegas for two tournaments over an 11-day period costs more than $16,000, as much as $20,000 depends on how many players we take. But if we keep cranking out the ticket sales for huli chicken, it could become a much more efficient and streamlined way to raise good money than car wash (big rent).
