So, that's 6 Intermediate players: Micah, Josh D, Josh R, Jance, Jonah and Chaz. We need two more players and I'd feel confident about traveling with that group.
The JV/V is thin. If Tenchi goes and Michael goes (the tournament officials are willing to let juniors play on a JV if necessary), the 6 Intermediate players can supplement them in JV. I'd want two more JV players along with Tenchi and Michael in that case. Then we'd actually travel with just 10 players competing in two divisions.

Again, if you don't travel this summer, we are all still going to sell huli huli chicken tickets to DA MAX and continue doing it through the summer, fall, winter and spring to save up for the mainland trip in 2016.
Maui Summer Classic
Condo (if we find a great deal), 2 bdrm $125/night x 5 nights = $625
Van rental $100 x 5 nights = $500
Air fare (good deal?) $250 per person
>> This is for one team of eight players and two or three coaches/adults, squeezing into one condo, more likely two. If it's two condo units, double that $625.
That adds up to $4,250. We will probably have to get a second van if we have more than 8 people, so add another $500 and that's $4,750.
That's not bad, $475 per person not counting meal money and entertainment spending money. So roughly $600 per person depending on spending habits/limits.
The more huli chicken tickets you sell, the lower your cost. We make a huge profit on those tickets (more than 50%) so please hustle and make calls NOW to get orders. The tickets should be in from Rainbow Drive-In this week. It's old-fashioned hard work, and whether we sell to family and co-workers, strangers at the store, people door to door, it's all the same and YES, people do care about young athletes. People do want to help, but first, we each have to make the effort to ask. Swallow your pride, and make this trip happen, everybody!
Again, whatever tickets you sell will be credited to your next trip whether it is 2015 summer or 2016 summer.

Safeway management directed to their property manager when I called today. They said they don't control what's outside the store and it's up to the property manager, so the manager then said it was up to Safeway's mainland management. In other words, they led me in a circle. All because we want to sell tickets outside their doors.
So Safeway is likely out unless someone has a connection with the mainland management. The property manager, Manny, said it's a one-month process and that he would text me the phone number. He never did, so I'm calling him again tomorrow. Half the battle is persistence, I'm learning that.
I'm also going to contact Walmart's management about doing ticket sales at their store in town, just like I've seen Girl Scouts and other groups do. If anyone has an idea for other locations, please let me know.
Also, I'm very interested in getting our team out to do fishnetting. Sierra's girls team, the Islanderz, made a lot of funds again, this time in Kaneohe, over the weekend. Players in team T-shirts or uniforms, parents there, too, and taking donations at the red light from drivers and passengers.
Regardless of whether you travel with the Thunder this year or next year or both, we need to fundraise at every chance we get. Money is tough to come by, but being opportunistic is key.
