Busy week starts with a bang

Sometimes it is ugly, but somehow, we end up smiling at the end. Thunder 17U 32, Maryknoll 29. I still don't think there's another team, high school or club, with as much heart and grit as us. We have guys who are undersized and rebounding on the block against guys 6 to 10 inches taller. We have the unselfishness and passing that allows us to get easy shots, enough to beat good teams like Maryknoll.

It's just one game, but once again, I'm proud of you guys. Everybody chipped in, tired or not from football practice or basketball practice or an earlier game. It wasn't fun going up against our own guys on the Maryknoll roster, but I'm proud of you guys, too.

We always stick close and find a way to pull ahead. People hitting the ground for loose balls. Guys boxing out the big men. Always challenging with on-ball defense. We have a long way to go before we're a great team, but we'll get there one day at a time as our veterans (like Isaiah) continue to blend with our semi-new Thunder (Jerry, Kenny, Kency, Jerry) and our newest additions (Haka, Sifo, Kyle, Jerson, Little Paul, Walter, Sean) and our old timers (Bryson, Tai).

Sorry for the long ramble. But it's the start of a busy, fun week: 10 games in all for our 17U, 16U, 15U and 14U.

Shooting practice on Wednesday 3 pm. We leave for the Maryknoll JV League and CAL 15U League after that (see schedule below). I lub this gaaaaaaaaaamme!
