Thunder: Saturday update

Here's a note from the CAL League for all our parents.

There are costs involved that are covered by our entry fee, but renting a high school gym is not cheap, so ... when we go to McKinley each Sunday morning, please stop by the donation box (big, metallic silver thing near the entrance) and drop a buck or two. Every bit will help, and this league might be the best one I've coached in (and I started in 1982).

The league director, Greydon, sent this (see the letter at left) out a couple of weeks ago and I'm just reposting it. He's planning to expand the league next season by a LOT, and with his ability to network with the best referees and secure excellent facilities, it would be great for all of us if the CAL League thrives for years and decades to come.

Greydon can't do it alone, though. I'm giving up cigarettes and vodka to cough up a few deniros for the league. (I don't drink hard liquor or smoke, so that's just a joke. Hahaa. I'll probably cut back on Jamba Juice orange appeal original w/ immunity. Twice a week is 10 bucks.)

Schedule
Saturday: Practice, 10:30 a.m., Kahala Park. Short workout, primary focus on shooting, footwork, ballhandling. If the players want to scrimmage, we can, but not for too long in this hot weather.

Sunday: Pre-game 10:10 a.m. Game 11:10 a.m. McKinley gym.

Tuesday and Thursday: Practice, 4:00 p.m., Holy Nativity gym. For those of us who can't get there before 4, just arrive as soon as you can. Josh gets out of school at 3:30 (Kamehameha), so we'll haul over from Kalihi and hopefully get to Holy Nativity before 4:15. It's worth the extra effort to get indoors the way the game was designed. Thank you, John!

See (some of) you guys in an hour!
