Couple of notes to pass on, everybody.
1. I've (finally) started uploading our game video from Sunday (vs. Holy Family Wildcats) to YouTube. It will take all day since I keep it in High Definition mode. I was hoping to get it up much sooner, but my external hard drive ran out of space, so I picked up a cool new one (that's compatible with Mac) yesterday from Best Buy. Wish I'd done it earlier!
2. Our bye date is Oct. 3, the last day of the regular season. The CAL League planned to match us up with another league team for an exhibition game; it wouldn't count in the standings, but would allow us to have an extra game. I was given the option to bring in our own opponent, which I gladly accepted.
So ... we're on the hunt for a opponent on Oct. 3. I have some ideas in mind and if you guys have a team in mind, let me know. Be aware that the team must have players 15 and younger. Nobody older can play, and nobody younger than 13 can play, per league liability (insurance).
The game will be at 12:20 p.m. at McKinley. Good facility, good referees, good people on the scoreboard ... it's ideal. We just need a team to play, and if I had my druthers, it would be a very good team.
If you're wondering why there is a bye, it happened when the league went from eight to seven teams — twice. The first time, Greydon (league director) replaced the Kings with Holy Family. Then Kaneohe pulled out when their coach realized he couldn't participate; he's a junior varsity coach.
But this will work out well for us if we find a good opponent. If we don't find one, we lose out on a nice opportunity. I think we'll have a great game that day.
