We were fortunate to break even (and make a tiny profit). Thanks to everybody (parents and players) for working together and working hard today. (Mahalo to Mrs. Chang for coming by and supporting us!) The only real differences between today and the car washes a year ago were the weather and pre-sale tickets. Last year we did pre-sale for the first two car washes and it helped a lot.
There's an open date on 7/19, two weeks from now. I'm going to ask Auntie Char to print out pre-sale tickets for us. Raising funds for the Kona trip (July 25-29) is priority. We have the IDCard fundraiser, the Free-Throw Challenge next weekend (please get all of your sponsors signed up now) and hopefully another car wash on 7/19.
I need feedback from parents and players about doing a car wash on that date. If I don't make a deposit ($400) on that quickly, we could lose the date. The NJB Classic is scheduled for that week, but we'll skip it (we are not registered for it yet) and save the money rather than spend it and be short-handed on car wash day. (It's possible we could play in the tournament and still work the car wash before and in between our 1 or 2 games that day, so I'm leaving that door open for now.)
