H1 Thunder 77, Swish 26 (PAA 13U)

Only 6 Thunder in uniform tonight, but it was just right. Good defense fullcourt and halfcourt, effective fastbreak (we're doing much better with outlet passes) and smart spotting up on the break for open threes. Josh was on fire with four treys in the first half, but everybody was playing well. Kapaa did great crashing the boards and starting the break. Jared hit the boards, too, and got us going. Javan and Ryan hit open threes most of the time they were open. Chris was very solid on defense when we went to 2-3 zone, and he was opportunistic in transition with layups on good passes.

Today's lineup: Javan Montiho, Ryan Higashionna, Kapaa Nishimura, Chris Afe, Jared Elwin and Joshua de Jesus.

Tonight's crew tied a Thunder record with 45 points in the first half. (Correction: Thunder intermediate team scored 48 in the first half against Aiea Blazers II a couple of weeks ago.)

It was hard for anybody to stop us tonight with the chemistry that Chris and Josh already have, plus what Jared, Javan and Ryan do, and add Kapaa getting used to everybody. It was fun to watch. Good hustle and good teamwork, Thunder! Thank you for playing together, playing hard and staying cool no matter what the score.

Next: Friday, 5:00 pm, practice at Makiki Park.

We might practice on Saturday since there's no car wash. Then we have a CAL Intermediate game on Sunday against Lanakila. Hopefully, everybody can show up and we can take another team photo. WE LUB THIS GAME!
