Sharks 39, H1 Thunder 25 (Int)

Aiea League Intermediate Division championship game
We were down 20-10 at the half, one too many unforced errors. But we cut the lead to 23-20 and were right there for awhile. Sharks finished strong and we were cold from the field. There's nothing to be ashamed of, taking second place in this league.

The Sharks stayed in a zone all game long, which tells me that they didn't want to go man on us. We had our shots from the 3-point arc, didn't hit many, and that's just a result of lack of reps and practice in the past two weeks.

Hopefully, we learn to be much more consistent with our footwork and pivoting. I've stressed this for the past two weeks because that's clearly one of our weak spots. When we pivot and face up, keep the ball high, we do pretty well. There were some nice plays today, like Kali‘a's pass to Kapaa on the high-low cut for an easy layup.

But overall, we still have work to do on fundamentals. We're doing pretty good, but we're just getting started. The Sharks have played together longer as a group, but we'll catch up as long as we practice together and improve on those fundamentals.

Today's lineup: Walter Berthold, Hsien Pascua, Micah Visoria, Ryan Higashionna, Felcris Jay Corpuz Ahadain, Manoa Kualii Moe, Kali'a Mielke, Jared Elwin, Kapaa Nishimura, Joshua de Jesus.
Busy Sunday ahead. We need everybody there in full force.
