OBL 13U Division, Koko Head gym
Good effort by our guys, but there was a lot of rust out there. Between guys who have missed a lot of practice and a good amount of overdribbling/lack of passing, we didn't get our best offensive game going consistently. But when we did move the ball - pass and cut - and hit Chris in the low post, things really flowed. One of these weeks, we'll be back to practicing as a team and hitting those open 3-point shots, and with Chris playing strong on the low post, I'm looking forward to the rest of the OBL regular season and playoffs.
We were down about 7 or 8 early, then came back and took the lead in the second half. We played good basketball during that stretch. Now it's up to us to play that way consistently, and that starts with sharpening up our skills at practice, with practicing and scrimmaging together at practice. Simple as that.
I'm optimistic. When Kapaa and Chris are setting the tone as our big men, it's tough for any 13U team to beat us. When our shooters are sharp, it's tough for any team, any age, to beat us.
Tonight's lineup: Thomas Baptiste, Josh Roberts, Walter Berthold, Colin Ramos, Javan Montiho, Joshua de Jesus, Felcris Jay Corpuz Ahadain, Kapaa Nishimura and Chris Afe.
Next: Sunday, 11:00 am - Shooting practice, McCully gym. FT Challenge for the guys who haven't shot yet.
WE LUB THIS GAAAME!
