Thunder Ohana, whether you play basketball, football or any other sport, please sign up with Pacific Islands Athletic Alliance. Doris Sullivan and her staff have helped THOUSANDS of local kids find colleges to continue their careers at the next level. I used to work with Doris more than a decade ago and she has the biggest heart for helping student-athletes.

SHE DOES NOT CHARGE ANYTHING. Doris is one of my oldest friends, a Sicilian lady from Baltimore who moved here in the 1990s with her family and sent two sons to school (Damien, Saint Louis), where they played football. She became involved in the process of helping them find colleges to play at and learned that it shouldn't cost a lot of money to get connected to coaches.

Since she created PIAA, they've become non-profit and do all kinds of cool things for student-athletes, including SAT Prep Classes, and the state's biggest football combine. They also organize and run volleyball and soccer combines.

But what Doris does best is connect high schoolers with college coaches. She's done this so long and made so many lasting friendships with coaches that they have great trust in her word.

Doris especially likes athletes who are excellent students. Many, many doors open up in those scenarios. She works with high school student-athletes (and their families), but it's never too soon to start.

So, for our Thunder who are just starting high school or almost done with middle school, I really would like to see you connect with Doris and her staff. Unless you don't want to play sports in college. Then never mind.
