Saturday Funday
Close game for more than a half, but we finally wore them down. Very good game defensively against a big, rugged core of Laie post players. We closed out on their perimeter shooters consistently. Not sure if they made any treys. As expected, we got a big boost from our young guards (12U) like Micah Visoria (hit at least one 3), Ryan Higashionna, Javan Montiho. We also got some solid minutes from Walter Berthold and Felcris Jay Corpuz (Last King).
It wasn't easy with Kyle Moraga not available, but our starters were strong. Tanielu Mosi Afe hit the boards hard, closed on the fastbreak often. Jared Elwin was excellent at the point, hit an open 3 off the break and super defense. Joshua de Jesus (Josh) was solid on our Sonic defense, roaming corner to corner and making that whole defense work while Kalai Kuia was not available. Kali'a Mielke was strong on the low post, never gave up against some strong defenders. He was outstanding when they broke our press and challenged him on 2-on-1 breaks. Only 3 fouls in extended minutes.
Another gritty team victory for the Thunder!
