Terrific effort from the Thunder tonight in three games. 15U led early, but lost to Lanakila 30-27 on an NBA-length trey with :12 left. Then 17U beat a team from Alaska by about 15 or 20. Then 17U rallied from about 15 down to within five against Lanakila before losing 54-46
17U begins NJB Classic playoff round in the morning (11 am) against Hawaiian Punch at Manoa gym.
The 12U resumes NJB Classic pool play at 10 am against OTB, then against Kahului Falcons at noon. Both game at Manoa. I LUB THIS GAME.
Update 11:35 pm: Just got home after some of the Thunder had a post-game meal at McDonald's on Dillingham and Waiakamilo. HUGE MAHALO to our parents once again. Auntie Dora picked up Mick, Jerry and JayAre at Makiki Park and transported them to Palama gym. Then she shot video for part of the first half of our game against Alaska. Thank you, Dora! She and Roland also brought ice-cold refreshments for the guys.
Coach Roy stepped up as always and drove a bunch of our 15U boys from McCully to Palama. Then he dropped off Chris at home after the last game.
Coach Cliff also helped out, taking Mick home after McDonald's. Micah and Jared, thank you for helping out at the 17U games with the coolers and basketballs.
I've got jerseys in the laundry and three videos to upload. This is when I wish I had a personal assistant.
Tomorrow is just around the corner. Setting two alarms before picking up some of the 12U before the first game. Best weekend of the year? Maybe!
