Friday wrap

Mahalo to Ray for picking up Josh and Felcris this afternoon so our 13U could have a (near) full lineup. Thunder 13U had a tough battle with Kiawe Heat, but Coach Larry and the guys opened a nine-point lead by halftime. Coach Larry had Colin and the team scoring off the press. After Chris (and the rest of 15U) arrived, the lead opened into double figures. Final: Thunder 45, Kiawe Heat 26.

15U had mixed results tonight. They played in the Aiea Blazers JV Tournament and beat Pearl City Vandals 52-35. A lot of good plays defensively, transition baskets. Solid all-around effort for the whole team. After a quick drive to Kilauea gym, they played Kailua in CAL 15U. We trailed early, took a 5-point lead into the final few minutes, then made some mistakes that cost us. Kailua scored off a steal with about :15 left and hung on to win 50-49.

We made a lot of big plays and Anu was hot from 3-point range. Kyle shot the ball extremely well. Chris played his best game in 15U, taking on Kailua's 6-7 Hugh Hogland (‘Iolani). We had the ball in the final seconds, but didn't get off a good shot. Part of it was our lack of execution on inbounds passing and positioning. That's something we have to clean up when everyone makes it to practice.
A good Friday night with a lot of good team play and hustle.

Next: Saturday, 10:40 am - Thunder vs. Lanakila (Aiea JV Tourney); 2:00 pm - Thunder vs. Hoops4Christ (Aiea JV Tourney).
WE LUB THIS GAME!
