We got rocked. Simple as that. Ali‘i are stacked and well coached, tough to beat that combination. A good mix of Maryknoll players and other top guys. We struggled against their sideline traps, more so because they're quick and tall.
We also had a lot of small mistakes that led to a ton of easy breakaway layups for Alii. It was frustrating, but all I wanted to really see is if we'd battle back and play smarter, which we did in the second half.
Make no mistake, Ali‘i has a lot of strong, good players and has to be the favorite to win this tournament. Manoa, Sage, Cameron, just good chemistry on both ends of the floor.
Now we move forward and focus on our two remaining pool games against Lanakila and Sharks. We need to win both to qualify for Sunday's championship bracket (semifinals). One game at a time. We play smart, we'll beat Lanakila.
