Varsity: Surfriders 29, Thunder 24

Great effort and hustle by our team tonight at the St. Francis Summer League. Our only "old" guy was Haka (Iamhaka Johnson), who was unbelievable at times. We led most of the way despite having a young lineup. Everybody was 14 or younger except for Haka, including Chris (12) and Jared (just turned 13). The lineup: Haka, Sisifo Lauvao, Tone Lauvao, Kyle Moraga, Tanielu Mosi Afe, Jared Elwin, Sierra Murobayashi, Jerry KillMet and Chris Tatupu Afe.

Kailua is a tall, big team, but we battled them on the glass pretty well. Tone and Chris held their own and more. Haka hit some clutch 3-pointers in the final minutes to keep us close. With Isaiah (school practice) and Jerry Betiru (funeral) out, we were very young out there, but we're proud as heck of our guys. We were this close to upsetting a team of 16- and 17-year-olds.
