17U: Lanakila Silver 34, Thunder 31

Ironman performance by our Thunder 17U tonight. Only five players — Isaiah, Kekai, Mick, Cody and Bryson — they gutted it out and led 27-19 over Lanakila Silver in the second half. Eventually, though, fatigue took over and we lost that lead. We were down 34-31 with the ball in the final seconds

Bryson's 3-point shot was tipped, Isaiah wound up with the ball above the top of the key and his 3-pointer rattled in and fell out at the buzzer. It's a loss but we're proud of the boys for playing so well for that long stretch against a team with a full lineup. We rarely had our full lineup for a game and that was the difference between playing for a title and being winless.

Our 17U gets a fresh start after an 8-3 season in Aiea League and the NJB season (which may or may not be done, we'll find out soon). The St. Francis Summer League starts on Wednesday. Then it's the Kalani Summer League in early June. Revamped lineup with some old friends returning. That's going to be fun.
