I think back to our 17U game last night and as one of the coaches, I realize I didn't call the right plays. We should've run 10-Ball for Isaiah and Mike. Isaiah had a little guy covering him the whole second half. We could've run UCLA and have the PG (Isaiah) cut and post up on the low post.
We should've run Fohawk sometimes just to change the rhythm and get some backdoor cuts going. I almost called V-Ray in the second half, but not everyone knows the play. Maybe I should've called it anyway. We needed more plays that initiate close to the basket.
I've always said players win games and coaches lose games. This was totally true last night. I'm not dwelling on our loss, but there's a lot to learn from it, more than a win.
