H1 Thunder 36, Kahuku 27 (V)

CAL League, Varsity Division, Kilauea gym
We were down 19-8 at the half. Easily our worst first half of the year. Second half may have been our best of the year.

The difference? Maybe today our older guys finally started to care about their team and teammates more than I do. That's how it should always be. Our older Thunder -- Tenchi, Michael, Chase, Radyn, Mosi and Sierra -- played their tails off in the second half against a massive Kahuku team. Sierra and Felcris did very good work coaching and running the subs in the second half and Colin was the 6th man.

Our bench -- around 7 or 8 of our JV/13U players -- were amazingly loud and supportive.

For the second time in a row, scrappy defense and Mosi's fastbreak buckets got us back in a game. Then Radyn's great lob passes to Tenchi helped the Thunder seal the win.

For the first time, it feels like this group of juniors and seniors actually OWN their team. And I hope to God it stays that way.
