Congrats to Coach Jimmy Miyasaka.
Jimmy helps out when he's back in the islands, and though he's now a practicing optometrist (eye doctor) in Industry, Calif., he still has time to ball on weekends. He scored 81 points in a game over the weekend. EIGHTY-ONE.
Here's what he wrote on Facebook about this feat.
"Every once in a great while a shooter finds his groove and makes it thunder."
Thunder is right. He made 24 3-pointers in the game. Jimmy's the kind of shooter who can get hot and stay hot for a long time from the 3-point arc. His shooting fundamentals are the basis of what we teach our Thunder. My hope is that if he moves back to Hawaii one day, he will carry the torch and keep the H1 Thunder program alive and thriving for decades to come. Whether it was youth league or playing college ball, Jimmy has always had immense work ethic, shooting at 6 am, hitting the weight room and everything he could do to get better. I'm not shocked he scored 81. I'm just surprised an opposing team let him shoot that many times.
