BIG MAHALO to Coach Nate Dudoit for hosting us at the fundraiser last night at Mamiya Theater. None of us really knew what it would be like, but now I understand. It was awesome. Great food (the Thunder kids gorged all night, even during intermission of the concert). Great hospitality. They really took care of us. And the concert was A+ with Ho'okena, Kawika Kahiapo and Willie K. Jason Rivers and June Jones were the guest speakers. Jason works with youth and I still think he was one of the greatest receivers in prep and UH history. June Jones spoke for more than 20 minutes. I videotaped that for the guys who left a little early.
We never expect to be treated so well, so it felt wonderful to just enjoy the many awesome moments. I hope Coach Nate and his Liahona Youth Empowerment fundraiser made a lot of new opportunities in the future for more keiki. It was a great night of thought and heart and fun.
