Ultra mahalos to Auntie Selene Valdez Horita filming this game and sending the team photo. Also bomboocha mahalos to Coach Jesse and Coach Tom for their leadership and aloha once again.

Auntie Selene noted that the Rebels were skilled and athletic. Our 4th Grade Pups have competed against teams of all kinds and nobody has bigger courage, heart and teamwork. Today we were missing Dylan, and Eisley is a bit under the weather.

Keep working every day to get better, working together. #h1thunder #workhardplayhard #sundayfunday

Hurricanes 27, H1 Thunder 26, OT (CAL 8th)

# Hurricanes 27, H1 Thunder 26, OT
CAL 8th Grade Silver
Kilauea gym
Special mahalos to Uncle Dean Anderson and Jonathan Lam for filming this battle.
Our Pups were not aggressive and got beat for rebounds by a young Canes team in the first half. We trailed by 11, then rallied by crashing the boards and took a 24-23 lead. After Nicholas hit a layup we led 26-23 with about 2 minutes left. But we gave up a wide open 3 and the Canes banked it in to tie it.

We had the ball for the final shot and settled for an NBA 3 instead of attacking the paint. In Ft shoutout OT, Canes banked in a FT, and we missed both of ours. Game over.

We're proud of our Pups rallying for the lead. But it's exhausting to beg our guys to shoot the ball. Our best player took just 6 or 7 shots all game. Another key player passed up 4-5 layups until the fourth quarter.

We'll get back to work on this at practice. The mind is a most powerful thing. Altering the mindset of being overly unselfish takes time. Reps. Practice. Show up, Pups. Let's get better every day. #h1thunder #opportunity #actionnow

H1 Thunder 29, Hoop Dreams 19 (CAL 4th)

# H1 Thunder 29, Hoop Dreams 19
CAL 4th Grade
Koko Head gym
Super mahalo to Uncle Haunama for filming today's battle. Hoop Dreams was strong from the start, crashing the boards and moving the ball efficiently. We were very fortunate they missed some layups.

Defense is where our Pups got the job done. TJ, Miki and Amac were tough with fullcourt pressure in the second half, and Eisley and Avari got layups in the second half. Dylan was solid playing multiple positions. Riley stepped on the court and got his older teammates valuable rest and water break time.

I really like our team's toughness and heart. Plenty of room to improve. But they showed today that they got each other's backs :)

One more game today. Hopefully, everyone's gas tanks will have enough left.

Massive mahalo to Coach Larry for coaching and guiding our Pups. It was tough with just six players suited up. I was at work (state tourney).

Our 8th Grade Pups have close wins and blowout losses, and they will keep working and moving forward. My schedule gets back to normal after today, so we'll be back to regular practice schedule.

Keep working every day, Pups. Move forward and move with purpose. 200 shots at game speed every day. 100 push-ups every day. 100 crunches every day. 20 laps (1 mile) every day. And enjoy the ride.

Huge mahalos to Auntie Selene Valdez Horita for keeping score and Uncle Don Quixote for filming this championship game. Similar to our earlier pool game. This time we were down early, rallied for a 17-10 lead, lost the lead, and the rallied again in the final minutes against talented Team Dream. All eight of our Thunder Pups made key contributions. I'm pressed for time (work), but we are so proud and amazed by our Pups. Smallest team in the division-- Levels 1 and 2 were combined -- but always battling for everything. Fearless! Final record: 4-0.
Congratulations Thunder!

Super mahalo to Uncle Don Quixote for filming our third game in pool play. We finished 3-0 and have the championship game at 1:00 pm.

Good job by everyone in another early morning game. Riley got a lot of minutes in this one. This was close until the final 2 minutes of the first half. Then Avari got a couple of steals at the start of the second half and we opened up the lead.
We will play Team Dream, which rallied past West Oahu Warriors to place second in the pool.
Miki was at the Aloha Run and was done running by 9 am. Congratulations Miki! Probably have a marathon or two down the road. Great runner.
