We played hard. They played herd.
We made big shots. They made big shots.
We simply had too many mental errors and beat ourselves.
I instructed Jayden and Ryan to score 20 points apiece to give us our best chance. They were on pace with that until the second half. We had just 6 players and did our best despite fatigue. Jance hit two big 3s to give us a 4-point lead with about 2 minutes left. But selfishness and mental errors on our part cost us the lead.
Walter drove for a layup to tie the game with time running out in regulation. In the OT free throw shootout, our first two shooters missed. Their guys made 2 of 3 FTs to seal the win.
The practice court is our classroom and the lack of team practices has really stunted our basketball IQ as a team and as individuals. Not to mention our fundamentals like FT shooting.
Pups have hit a ceiling. The desire to show up for games is there. We need practice as a team.
