It is, in essence, the original Beautiful Game. While the design is wonderful DNA, the guts of the system is work ethic. Like anything else, nothing worth working for is acquired without blood, sweat and tears, and not necessarily in this order.

Kiawe Heat 64, H1 Thunder 38 (CAL 8th)

Hana hou massive mahalo to Uncle Dean Anderson for filming our second 8th Grade game of the day. Our Pups played their hearts out, and it's the mental aspect that is a work in progress. I see some of our guys digging deep into their souls to learn the game, to give to their teammates. Those intangibles are the bedrock of any player's improvement. Painful as it can be, when any athlete feels the passion to get better, it's a victory. Small victory, but a huge step in the right direction.
Kona played all out defensively, blocking shots, rebounding, challenging everything he could in the middle. Then he was our primarily ballhandler against the press. I want him taking 15-20 shots every game, but that's a huge ask with the amount of energy he expends from start to finish.
Noel worked hard, too. So did Zachary. They've got to keep plugging away every day, get their 200, 300, 400 shots every day. That's what it's going to take. We'll be in JV leagues soon, no time to fall behind.
Good boost from Kye, Eisley and DJ. It was another good shooting game for DJ, 5-6 3's and 20+ points.
Again, some guys are on trips (Duke, Nicholas). Emic had a family activity.
This was our last CAL 8th Grade Silver game of the winter season. CAL summer league will begin in May.
