Lanakila Black 46, H1 Thunder 34 (15U exhibt)

## Lanakila Black 46, H1 Thunder 34 ##
** Exhibition game **
NJB All-Net 15U, Kilauea gym
Since the Sharks forfeited their game this afternoon against us, Lanakila Black filled in. Unlike yesterday's foe (Mililani Storm), L-Black didn't play man defense on us. They saw us play yesterday and probably realize that wouldn't be a good idea.

So, today we learned that our group of new and old players have to work on zone offense. We showed some nice flashes of execution agains their tight 2-3 zone. With time and reps, we'll master it, especially the high-low and low-high passes in the post.

Sometimes the 3-point shot is on and busting a zone is easy. Today, not the case, so finding easy shots against zone defense will be a priority at practice.

We're 2-2 in division play, so we have a good shot at making the championship bracket, and if we progress the way I think we will, we'll peak by the playoffs and anything is possible.
I think Lanakila Black has a very good chance to reach the semifinals and beyond. And we were right there with them today for most of the way with a team that has three brand-new guys. I'm optimistic!

Today's lineup: Jhayveen OngGabriel Porras, Sierra Murobayashi, Drake Lee, Kapaa Nishimura, Jared Elwin, Raydyn Kaleikini, Chase Santos.

Next: Sunday, 11:00 am - Shooting practice, McCully gym. Bring your loose change. We start our Loose Change Collection Fundraiser.
Sunday, 2:45 pm or later - Thunder vs. Windward (OBL 13U quarterfinal), Koko Head gym. This game was originally scheduled for today (Saturday), but was postponed. We'll have an exact game time from the league later today.
