Good hustle and effort this morning, but our 13U is going through a major adjustment right now. With Chris busy (football) and Kapaa out (ankle injury), we really have to be smart and opportunistic as a smaller team. And that's not going to be easy. It'll take time to develop a different chemistry, but it can and will be done.
For now, though, we'll keep pressing forward and practicing to gain that cohesion.
This game was close until the final 2 minutes (33-25 with 2:08 left), but we had more mental errors than good plays and Kahuku's big, athletic players took advantage of our mistakes. We're now 4-2 in OBL 13U, and the playoffs are nearing. Hopefully, we have Kapaa back sooner rather than later, but nothing is a guarantee. It's the second time he's hurt that ankle, so caution (and patience) is advised.
We didn't play well and still were in this game, so I'm optimistic. Patience, again, is required. And recommended.
Officiating in OBL has been shaky at best. In this game, the two officials allowed a ton of impeding contact (hand checking, forearm checks) in one of the worst-called games I've seen in a long time at the youth level.
This is something we can't control. It's something we'll overcome.
Today's lineup: Josh Roberts, Thomas Baptiste, Walter Berthold, Ryan Higashionna, Micah Visoria, Javan Montiho, Colin Ramos,Felcris Jay Corpuz Ahadain.
