Mahalo to Coach Roy and Coach Rob for picking up the guys and doing good work on Friday. I expected just 6 players, but we ended up with 8. Having some of our 13U guys step up was key. I watched the video late last night and had fun seeing a team that played like an older team.
Isaiah played strong, as usual, and Haka made it to the game. (I forgot that his football game isn't until Saturday.) Isaiah drew fouls all game long, which is interesting because it was CAL League's referee training night. That means there was a three-man crew on the court at all times, and Isaiah was shooting bonus free throws early in the second quarter. The officials did a pretty stellar job all game long.
Haka hit some early 3-point bombs to help us open a double-digit lead and we never let it go. It's also satisfying to see our younger guys play solid basketball. Friday's lineup: Isaiah, Haka, Kyle, Joshua, Kali‘a, Kapaa, Hsien and Cody.
That closes the fall season. It was a lot of fun, more than I expected for our 17U. Job well done!
