Good effort tonight by our 17U in a 68-64 win over NJB Hawaii Select. That team put on a heck of a shooting display, mainly by Shane Matayoshi. Props to them and Coach Matt Tsukazaki on a nice comeback, and props to our guys for fighting back with tough defense (once we went to man-to-man) and clutch shooting.
I hope we play them again in the playoffs. We'll have a much different look defensively for them, and we'll be much more in sync, too. I don't expect perfection because our 17U guys hardly practice together. We'll gel as we go along and get better as a unit, especially with our zone offense.
Practice on Easter Sunday is strictly optional. The reason I'm having practice is for the guys who won't have any family obligations on that afternoon. Then we can have some solid shooting work done and continue to progress individually and as a team.
If you've got family time, go enjoy and thank the Lord for your blessings. Life is shorter than we think often times. The minute we start taking our family for granted, guess what? We might regret doing that before long. Nothing in life is automatic. Nothing in life is a given or guarantee. Enjoy them all you can in the moment.
Tomorrow morning, 15U play at 10 a.m., Palama Gym. I'm pumped for that game already!

While other players and teams cruise through the "off season," what gear is your motor running on? Idling? Full throttle? One life to live. Your choice.
