Special mahalo to Uncle HM Murdock for filming this rematch battle against Kalakaua. Storm forfeited the 4th Grade game so Kalakaua filled in.
Bomboocha mahalo to Leila for filming the 6th Grade game. It is her first time ever filming a game. Great job, future film director 🎬
Our defense and depth made a big difference. Kalakaua has improved a lot and made this a close game most of the way. We missed several layups, usually from rushing or taking off from LeBron distance.
Good job by our tough Thunder Pups. They love to play great defense together, and it is quite infectious. Haden, Caleb. Eisley, Ebomb did good work in the paint. Avari probably had 7-8 deflections in the two games. Crazy good spider arms everywhere.
In the second game, our 6th Grade Pups played with grit, especially the ones who had just played in the 4th Grade game. We trailed by 8 or 10 points, then rallied with smart defense. Kudos to our Pups corn locking down on HHA's gunners and their big man. Kye was a defensive force in the paint against a guy who is 1 foot and 80 pounds bigger.
It not easy to explain how a small team of mostly 4th and 5th graders can compete and beat a talented, skilled and older foe. EZ sparked the rally with a string of points, and our aggressive defenders like Emic, Miki, Eisley, and the rest of the crew were amazing. DJ is orobably the best point center in the league. He loves his teammates and prefers to give the ball up on the fastbreak or settle for a 12-footer, which is why we missed out on 10 to 15 points. He is on the cusp of breaking out into a new level.
It's always uplifting to see Pups so young embrace and support each other like our guys do.
