It is, in essence, the original Beautiful Game. While the design is wonderful DNA, the guts of the system is work ethic. Like anything else, nothing worth working for is acquired without blood, sweat and tears, and not necessarily in this order.

HHA Blue 33, H1 Thunder 26 (HHA 5th Grade)

Mr. Michael Knight filmed the game today. Mahalo, Mr. Knight! HHA's zone defense gave us opportunities and we didn't shoot well enough. Also missed some open teammates on cuts. Sometimes a loss gives us a good plate of areas to work on and this is one of them.
We were down 8 and rallied. Ebomb's 3 tied the game at 22. But we had a lot of missed opportunities from beginning to end, many times rushing shots.
Things to work on at practice:
> Patience, pivoting, pump fakes in the paint.
> Finishing 1-on-1 on fastrbreaks -- at the rim.
> Executing zone offense. We never passed to a cutter.
> Minty defense. It was good most of the second half, but wasn't good enough in the final e minutes.
HHA shot the ball well, passed well. It's their home gym, to be expected. I had a good talk with Coach Marco after the game about officiating. His partner today was a first-time referee, unlike the excellent one we had last week. Reffing didn't cost us this game, but I believe in sharing my input when there is such a huge difference in the span of one week. There were at least 5 travels that weren't called on HHA.
I don't think it was intentional. But not everyone sees violations, and yet they are on the court reffing. Hopefully, Jill and Coach Marco of HHA can resolve this.
