H1 Thunder 56, Sharks A 44 (JV)

Ikaika League, JV Division, McCully gym

Congrats to Coach Larry, Coach Bino and the 13 Thunder who suited up for Saturday night's battle. It's been a long time since we've consistently had double-figure numbers for games in any league, maybe not since 2011 when our 17U (Drew Viena, Mo Krume, Kawe Johnson, Mickey Morikawa, JJ Acopan and the rest of those guys) were dominating NJB All-Net.

Coach Larry said everyone played hard and he tried to get as many players time on the court while still giving the older guys their chance to get significant minutes. He said Sharks had just 6 players, which is unusually low.

Having a hungry team with hungry players for every game is a major factor in success and it is very obvious that we have one of the hungriest teams in the league. Maybe the most hungry. AWESOME.

I haven't seen the video yet, but I'm looking forward to it. With Larry and Bino and all the help from our parents — Mahalo to Jason Apuya for picking up Felcris, Mosi and Chris — our kids have so much opportunity to learn great teamwork, sacrifice and joy through the game of basketball. And it doesn't matter if I'm there or not. That's how strong we are as an ohana.

Thank you Lord for every blessing. WE LOVE THIS GAME.

Update 4/27
Lineup: Sierra, Jonah, Felcris, Josh R, Mosi, Chris, Jhevin, Jance, Ryan, Chase, Tenchi, Radyn, Kali‘a.

Not available: Kyle (church seminar), Josh D (family time with his cousin), Jayden, Colin (ankle), Jared, Kapaa (volleyball), Micah (uniform). Gabriel (injuries).

I edited the game video - big Mahalo to  Brandon Higashionna for another well-shot game - and it was fun to work on. Great teamwork, sharing the ball, being aggressive offensively, having patience against the Sharks' 2-3 zone and a solid job defensively and we turned a lot of Sharks turnovers into quick transition points. Coach Larry mixed up our defenses beautifully.
