Winning ain't always pretty

Thunder 17U 43, Hawaiian Punch 37
Thunder 17U 45, Hawaiian Punch 39

You know what they say about sausage factories? It's ugly to watch them make the stuff, but the product tastes good. That's what today's win over Hawaiian Punch was like. Playing back-to-back games in an 18-hour span is always a test. Some guys will bring their energy 100%. Some won't have it. That's why, as Coach Bo said afterward, "A win is a win."

That puts us in the 4 pm game on Sunday at Palolo as we move closer to the consolation finals. When the legs aren't at full strength, that's when fundamentals and smarts kick in. Or a lack of both ... it depends on how much you want it. That's where heart matters. I think we have heart. The fundamentals and smarts ... that will take consistent, daily work. We're getting there.

The 15U will play on Sunday, 1 pm, at Palama. The 3 pm shooting practice/pizza party is cancelled this time.

Big mahalo to the Ogosos for making furikake spam musubis for everybody. Mahalo also to the Ogoshis for providing ice-cold refreshments.

Note: Just got the e-mail this afternoon. Aiea League, Thunder vs. KKB, Friday, 8:15 pm. I lub this game!
