CAL League, 13U Gold Division, Kilauea gym
Game was close until the end. Just didn't have our normal energy level. A lot of rust. We forced up a ton of difficult shots that we normally don't try.
We just aren't the same team we've been and the only reason is that we don't practice as a team. Simple as that. The cure? Practice as a team. Simple as that.
We're now 3-2. At one point, we were playing good basketball. We have two games left. It would be a good finish if we practiced and closed out our season as the Pups who came so far from last winter. Let's focus on a good day when we can have a good 13U team practice.
It is, in essence, the original Beautiful Game. While the design is wonderful DNA, the guts of the system is work ethic. Like anything else, nothing worth working for is acquired without blood, sweat and tears, and not necessarily in this order.

H1 Thunder 42, Team Dream 24 (Inter)
* Exhibition game, Lanakila gym
Just Play forfeited the Ikaika League Intermediate Division quarterfinal game to us, so we were fortunate to have an exhibition game set up by a guest team, Team Dream. League director Clay Tang was kind enough to set that up for us.
Good teamwork and hustling tonight. I asked specifically for strong and sustained box-outs against this tall, big team, and our Thunder did a solid job with that. Still room for improvement, but we got a lot of improvement in that area from just about everyone. It makes me excited about seeing the game video knowing our guys were fearless out there despite being outsized by a 6 to 12 inches and anywhere from 25 to 75 pounds against their big guys.
Big mahalo to Brandon Higashionna for shooting the game video again volunteering for the 55th game in a row. You are awesome, Brandon!
Lineup: Chaz, Skyler, Trinity, Jhevin, Jance, Jayden, Josh R, Micah, Colin, Ryan, Josh D, Felcris, Jonah.
Next:
Friday - No practice.
Saturday, 6:30 pm - Stretching/warmups at McCully gym outside court. 7:30 pm - H1 Thunder vs. LBC (Ikaika JV League playoff). **Note: I have to work again on a Saturday night - state volleyball championships. Jason Apuya has offered to pick up some guys. We could use one more driver so that Jason can pick up Tani Mosi and Chris, and another driver to pick up Felcris and Josh D.
Kali'a is not playing on Saturday due to a dinner commitment, so we need everybody in full force. All hands on deck!
Sunday, 3:00 pm - FT Challenge. Please help the cause and collect your FT Challenge Sponsors. See me for the forms or let me know and I'll e-mail them to you. Goal is for every player to sign up at least 10 sponsors at $1 per free throw. We raised $2,000 last year thanks to everyone's hustle. That went a long way towards league fees, uniforms, basketballs, travel costs and more.
This is our best fundraiser, much more practical than a car wash ($400 rent).

Thursday Game Day
Got the word from Ikaika League that 1) Just Play has forfeited tonight's quarterfinal game to us, and 2) Team Dream will fill in for an exhibition game with us.
So we're now in the semifinals (next week), and we'll get to play a game tonight that will help us prepare us. Team Dream played last week just before our game. They've changed some since the last time we played them (last fall), but here's the highlight video in case anyone's forgotten. I know I almost did.

See you guys at Lanakila gym outside courts 6:40 pm.
