Wolves 34, H1 Thunder 33, OT (CAL 6th)

CAL 6th Grade League
Damien gym

Special mahalo to Uncle Sam for filming this thriller. Wolves are young like we are, most the same team from the recent Damien 5th Grade League.

We started slow, down 11-3, rallied to 13-all, and EZ hurt his ankle early in the 2nd quarter. We were down 21-13 at halftime.

EZ recovered and in the 3rd quarter he hit two 3s and a 2, and we tied it at 21. The gym was rocking. We took the lead in the 4th quarter and after DJ hit a 3, we led 33-29 with 1 minute left. Rocking even more.

The whole time our guys on the bench were chanting defense! That was a huge show of Thunder power today.

We had two turnovers after that, just a matter of rushing a bit. Wolves hit a shot inside, and then a wild bank shot at buzzer. In the FT shootout, we missed both shots and they made one, game over.

Great comeback! We are very, very proud of our Thunder Pups. Plenty of heart and courage against a big, talented Wolves squad. Learn from every experience and keep getting wiser and better. Hopefully we run the floor much better next game. And keep practicing 50+ free throws every day. I think Wolves are a Gold-level quality team, and we played like a Gold team today, too.

That was a pretty fun game. More fun next weekend 🙂
