First, if you haven't seen our schedule for today (Saturday) and tomorrow and the next few days, look at the previous post below.
I just finished watching the video (good job, Jackson!) of last night's 17U Thunder game. Coach John wisely rested Bryson and Anfernee, saving their legs for today's Aiea Tournament semifinals. Also interesting to see Tats mesh with our guys for the first time. Pretty smooth. As a team, though, the lack of practice time is obvious. That's something we can correct on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. There's no substitute for playing together over time. It'll come.
It was also interesting to see how William fit in while Kaelan and Uriah were also on the floor. Clearly, a lot of guys are not in top physical condition. The guys who worked out through the summer will benefit when conditioning begins in a few days at their schools. The guys who didn't work out during the summer have a two months to get in shape before tryouts begin. I strongly suggest you get into the best shape of your life.
On the whole, our 17U played fairly well for about 10 minutes, then the lack of chemistry and practice caught up. Without Isaiah, Anfernee and Bryson, we are a totally different team.
I can tell you guys one thing for sure: it doesn't matter how small or tall we are. We will always initiate the tempo. We will always push and be aggressive without being reckless. There's more to come. Stay tuned.
