Two Friday games have passed. A win over Pearl City to advance into the championship bracket of the Aiea Tournament (15U). A loss in the NJB (17U) opener. I wish I could've been there for both games.
The victory over PC was easily the best game we've played in the tourney this week. Consistent intensity, uptempo pace on offense and defense, and we wore them down again, just like last week in the 17U tourney. I'm looking forward to watching the video. (It's uploading now.)
JJ tells me the 17U game was close, we were up by 6, missed a lot of layups. I'm hoping we get maximum attendance at practice, 'cause man, we NEED it! We make layups, we become a force. Practice and reps are the recipe for success.
The game I went to at Radford was entertaining for a half. It's my job, and I like my job a lot. Wish I didn't have to miss any Thunder games, but Coach John knows his hoops like a professor. Tomorrow, we're in the semifinals at the Aiea Tourney with a chance to knock Lanakila out. Remember them? Last week in the 17U tourney we had them tied in the second half before they pulled away. It was our first game together with the new Thunder and old Thunder.
Are we better now? I think ... YES.

Thursday is Sept. 1, which means all OIA teams can start conditioning workouts. Once I find out what everyone's schedule is like, I'll work our Thunder workouts around that. Practice for us means shooting reps, ballhanding drills and more shooting reps. I'll leave the conditioning to your varsity and JV coaches ;)
NOTE: Thomas, Darrell, Alleck and anybody else who needs a ride to Aiea, we'll meet at Makiki Park, 2:00 p.m.
I LUB DIS GAME.
