H1 Thunder 63, Kihei Boyz 61, 2 OT (JV)

Maui Summer Classic, JV Division
The guys did it. Down for most of the game, kept chipping away and went ahead midway through the second half 46-41. We pulled the press back to get some rest, but Kihei ran fastbreaks on us to cut the lead to 1. We were up 56-53 with less than :25 left when one of Kihei's guards hit a 25-foot trey from the right side to tie it.

We had the ball with 3 seconds left in regulation, but we turned the ball over on an inbounds pass and Kihei missed a 60-footer at the buzzer.

At the end of the first OT, we got an open 3 for Tani, but his shot was short and went to a second OT.

Second OT was sudden death. That's when Tani and the Kihei center both touched the referee's toss. Jonah tipped the loose ball, Tani got the ball and drove. He stopped at the low post area, pivoted back and forward again to bank in the winning shot.

Along with the earlier win today against Maui Sparks, this puts us at 2-1 in JV Pool Play. All teams qualify for the championship bracket, so this is for seeding. It also gave us a lot of momentum and confidence.
