It is, in essence, the original Beautiful Game. While the design is wonderful DNA, the guts of the system is work ethic. Like anything else, nothing worth working for is acquired without blood, sweat and tears, and not necessarily in this order.

13U: Kailua 33, Thunder 32
Good battle with a good, tall team. Our press gave them fits and we rallied from a 10-0 deficit to take the lead late in the game. Chris Afe scored on a traditional 3-point play in the paint with a nice move. He hit a free throw to tied the game at 32-all.
Kailua couldn't get a good look at the basket, but with :04 left, Kyle Moraga fouled one of their guys taking a 15-footer from the left wing. He hit the first free throw, and we couldn't get off a good shot.
We did a lot of good things in this game, but some mistakes down the stretch hurt us, including one by me. I wanted Kyle to give the ball to Jared so we could run Double 9 (Kyle hit a couple of treys earlier on that play), but we ended up committing a turnover.
Clutch defense and shooting by Jared Elwin. He's been doing a very good job on penetration, patience and passing. Good rebounding by Kyle, Chris and Kali‘a.
We WILL play smarter and better down the stretch as we gain more experience. We got a lot of solid defense and shooting from our younger guys (Micah Visoria, Javan Montiho). It was a good team effort. Just one point short.
Next: Sunday, 11:00 am, practice at McCully gym. Need a ride, let me know. WE LUB THIS GAME!
