Thursday funday

15U: Thunder 46, Monarchs JV 37
Started out slow again, trailed 18-11 against a quick, tall Damien JV team. But eventually, our pace and pressure wore them down. It was close at halftime; the league rule is that every team has to play man-to-man, no zone (halfcourt or fullcourt trap). But in the second half, our press did well, and Damien got tired. They had just five players for the entire game. Our guys know what that's like. Solid win.

Lineup: Joshua de Jesus (Josh), Jimark de Jesus, Jerry KillMet, Tone Lauvao, Sifo Lauvao, Kyle Moraga, Javan Montiho, Jared Elwin, Micah Visoria, Aloha Itx Joseph, Nikko Venzon.

Then we got in the car and went straight to Kalani. The game had just started when we got there.

17U: Lanakila 57, Thunder 50
Strong night for Isaiah Visoria and Mick Colling. Isaiah was everywhere defensively with steals and blocked shots, a lot of drives to the bucket. Mick got better as the game went on, slashing over and over. The weight training has helped him a lot.

Our younger guys were tired from the earlier game, but they played hard. Sisifo Lauvao had some nice drives, getting contact, hitting shots. Tone Lauvao hit the boards strong. When he gets better with his balance, his offensive rebounding will be a huge factor against these older guys. Haka Iamhaka Johnson and John Chow played solid defensively.

Good team effort overall in both games. Not having our other older guys there is a big difference, but the younger guys got to play a lot, so it's good.

Next: Saturday, 2:00 pm - Thunder 15U vs. Royals JV, Pearl City High School gym.
