It is, in essence, the original Beautiful Game. While the design is wonderful DNA, the guts of the system is work ethic. Like anything else, nothing worth working for is acquired without blood, sweat and tears, and not necessarily in this order.

PAA 13U Week 1 schedule

Lloyd Lee of the PAA League just e-mailed the 13U schedule for the first week. That's right, we're ready to roll in another league in just a matter of nine more days.

Wednesday, Feb. 6
7:15 pm Thunder vs. Kapolei, Kilauea Gym

Saturday, Feb. 9
5:45 pm Thunder vs. Tar Heels, McCully Gym

About Me

Coach 'Pupule' Paul: Became an accidental coach in 1981-82, at 16, when I was asked to coach my brother's 11-12 team at Boys Club of Honolulu. We won the title, woohoo! Since then, I've coached a JV team (Kaimuki 1999-2000) and KAC 11-12 (2000), as well as Pupule Ohana (men's league, exhibition team against high school teams) 1991-98 with VIctor McDaniel (who has run the league since). Also ran the Pupule Ohana men's league '91-98, Big Island Ghetto Jam halfcourt tournament ('91-98) with Vic and refereed youth leagues (ILH intermediate summer, Kona P&R) over the years. Coaching the Thunder is my first time on the bench in a decade, but it's also been so much fun! When I'm not playing or coaching basketball — which I cannot deny is an incurable addiction — I cover high school sports for the Star-Advertiser. I've been writing about sports since high school, and I've gotten paid for it since 1990. I've enjoyed every minute of it. Well, almost all of it.
