Silver lining

Well, that wasn't expected. OK, we didn't get to play tonight. But instead, we got to use a gym for our own purposes for a good 30 minutes or so. With 12 guys — 13 it turned out, except Isaiah stayed off the court and hidden away when he arrived — we had a good number to get a scrimmage going. We got some basics of the zone and man offenses going for our newer guys like Max, Pono and Jordan.

Playing indoors is a huge advantage for practice. No wind. Fewer bumps and bruises. More than all that, it's simply a major boost to confidence. Playing under the lights is a different world. So that's why I consider tonight's forfeit a blessing in disguise. We got to work on things that needed working on. We get a win, the Sharks get a loss and we move on to another pool-play game tomorrow night against the host Aiea Blazers.

I'm content for now, but when morning comes, I'll be pumped again. Wish I could play.

We'll meet at 6 p.m. tomorrow. Game time is 7.
